Vision
The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Centre for Strategic Assessment (CSA) strives to serve as Sri Lanka’s premier and focal Centre to advise senior civilian and military decision-makers.
Vision Statements
- CSA contributes to policies relevant to national security and defence strategies, generating and evaluating concepts for their guidance, organization, resources, and activities.
- CSA promotes collaboration among civilian and military leaders, practitioners, academicians and whole of society representatives.
Mission
- KDU CSA conducts research, analysis, and outreach to equip senior Sri Lankan national security and defense leaders with the intellectual tools and applied insights to understand and shape the future security environment nationally and international.
- Sustaining a KDU ethos of applied learning, intellectual dynamism, and society-wide collaboration, CSA programs and initiatives survey and interpret the regional security environment, to identify implications for Sri Lanka’s challenge-threat-opportunity calculus, and meaningfully impact policy, strategy, and programmatic decisions.
- Through publications, a robust digital presence, conferences, senior leader workshops, and academic seminars, and, eventually, a curriculum for strategic assessments, in collaboration with KDU and other national security education organs, CSA’s national and international engagements and the development of the education of future leaders will lead to improved multilateral collaboration to grasp and address strategically significant challenges, threats, and opportunities.
