Inter-Faculty Squash Tournament – 2022
Inter-faculty Squash Tournament 2022 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was held on 28th April with the sportsmanship of 63 talented players, representing 10 faculties executing their top-most planning and skills at the championship. Teams from the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Allied Health Science, Faculty of Computing, Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Science, Faculty of Technology and Faculty of Criminal Justice took part in the occasion.
The tournament was officially and ceremonially graced with the presence of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration) Brigadier W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, along with the Deans, HODs and other official representatives from the university. Faculty of Engineering vs Faculty of Law commenced the tournament with great sportsmanship and spirit. Semi-finals were carried out respectively between the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies vs Faculty of Criminal Justice and Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities vs Faculty of Law.
Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies and Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities displayed their championship traits by the end of the first day while the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Faculty of Law compete for the 3rd place in the tournament. Among, the Faculty of Law secured 3rd place.
Final between the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies and the Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities with the presence of the Chief Guest Major General ALDM Gunasekara RSP USP psc (Rector of the Metropolitan Campus Guarantee Ltd) on 29th April, and the Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities victorious as champions of the Inter-Faculty Squash tournament 2022.
The captain of the Champion’s team was Officer Cadet BDTM Rajapaksha from 38th Intake and the ‘Best Player’ of the tournament trophy was accomplished by the Lady Day-Scholar Kasuni Gunawardane from 37th Intake. Respectively, runners-up team was led by Officer Cadet JMCMB Jayalath from 38th Intake and winners of the 3rd place team was led by Day- Scholar NAYA Napagoda from 37th Intake.
