An in-house panel discussion organised by the Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies

A scholarly discussion about the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis was organized by the Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on Friday, 04th March 2022, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium. The session was conducted by two Senior Lecturers of the Department of Strategic Studies: Mr. Asantha Seneviratne and Mr. S. Satheesmohan and was moderated by Ms. Sinduja Jayaratne.

The discussion focused on the background and the causes for the Russia-Ukraine issue, with Mr. Asantha Seneviratne detailing the historical and geopolitical causes. Speaking next, Mr. S. Satheesmohan discussed how the issue can be resolved and for peace to be achieved. The audience comprised of academics, senior military officers, undergraduates following the BSc in Strategic Studies & International Relations from Intakes 37, 38 and 39.
