Captain Dinal Fernando is from the Sri Lanka Army Service Corp. He acquired his initial studies from S. Thomas College , Bandarawela. On 16 September 2015, he Joined Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). After completion of the basic military training at KDU and Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), he was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant on 25 December 2020 and posted to the Sri Lanka Army Service Corp, a prestigious regiment of Sri Lanka Army and subsequently posted to 1 SLASC.

- Second in Command - Supply - 1 SLASC
- Officer Commanding - 160 Composite Squadron at Puttalam
- Officer Commanding - 1 GT Squadron at Panagoda
Instructor Appointments
- Course Officer - Recruit training at Panagoda
- Troop Commander - Kotelawala Defence University.
