    Lieutenant Chirath Ranasnghe is from executive branch of Sri Lanka Navy.He received his primary education from Kahadauwa Nationl School – Kahaduwa  and secondary education from Royal College- Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Navy on 23 September 2016 as an undergraduate of KDU Intake 34 in General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. After the completion of the advanced military training at Naval and Maritime Academy- Trincomalee, He was commissioned to the rank of Acting Sub Lieutenant on 03rd July 2020 and posted to the SLNS Sagara as a watch keeping officer. Thereafter he served as a 2nd in command for P430 and P483 in 4th Fast Attack Flotilla and administrative officer in civil engineering department in nothern naval area. Currently he is serving as a Troop Commander for Intake 41 in General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University for almost  2 years.
