Major General (Retd) L.C.R Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc was enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 01 January 1989. Upon successful completion of military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy – Diyatalawa and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), in Intake 31 – IMA, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on 05 October 1990. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC). After being steadily elevated to subsequent ranks in the course of the span of service in the Army, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 10 October 2021.
He has followed many local and foreign courses during his military career. He has also held many command, instructional and administrative appointments.
The Senior Officer has also followed a number of higher educational and non-military courses, such as Master of Science in Security and Strategic Studies at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and Master of Philosophy in Defence and Strategic Studies at University of Madras, India. Prior to his retirement he held the appointment of Rector Southern Campus, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. He is currently employed as senior lecturer at the department of strategic studies at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
He has been bestowed with the gallantry award ‘Rana Sura Padakkama’.
