Maritime Cooperation between Sri Lanka and New Zealand
Enhancing bilateral relations through the Massey University and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
Dr. Germana Nicklin, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Defence and Security Studies, Massey University, New Zealand and Dr. Bhagya Senaratne, Senior Lecturer, Department of Strategic Studies, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka, shared their research and insight via a Zoom conference under the topic of “MARITIME CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NEW ZEALAND AND SRI LANKA: CONNECTED BY EMPIRE, SEPARATED BY DISTANCE” on 17th September 2021. During this video conference, Senior Lecturer Dr. Bhagya Senaratne emphasized the historical bilateral relationship of the two countries during the colonization era, and traced its evolution, considering the geographic locations of the two states. This was the first of a series of webinars lined up between the two Universities.
