KDU Toastmasters Club Speech Contest 2020
The Toastmasters Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University successfully concludes their International Speech and Table Topics Speech Club Contest 2020.
The contests were held on the 01st of February 2020 at the FDSS Main Auditorium in accordance with the rules and regulations of Toastmasters International with a participation of 15 contestants representing both Day-Scholars and Cadets providing them an opportunity to mold themselves as potential public speakers.
Toastmasters Sanara Premaratne, Himanshu Dewruwan and Erandika Hapuarachchi placed First, Second and Third Places respectively in the International Speech Contest while Toastmasters Minoan Gamage, Himanshu Dewruwan and Helani Fonseka placed First, Second and Third Places respectively for the Table Topics Contest. They were adjudged by an experienced panel of judges headed by Toastmaster Kumudu Kannangara from Wattala Toastmasters Club.
The Winner and the Runner-Up of the club contest will proceed to the Area Level Contest which will be held on the 23rd of February at the Royal College Skills Center with the participation of 05 other clubs in Area 03 Division M District 82.
The KDU Toastmasters achieved these heights with the directions of the Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris and Dean Faculty of Defense and Strategic Studies Colonel Sylvester Perera and under the guidance of Officers in Charge Squadron Leader Yohan Somawansha and Second Lieutenant Pabodha Palliyaguru.
