Captain RSD Fernando

Captain Dinal Fernando is from the Sri Lanka Army Service Corp. He acquired his initial studies from S. Thomas College , Bandarawela. On 16 September 2015, he Joined Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). After completion of the basic military training at KDU and Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), he was commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant on 25 December 2020 and posted to the Sri Lanka Army Service Corp, a prestigious regiment of Sri Lanka Army and subsequently posted to 1 SLASC.

During his tour of duty, he has hold following important appointments:

Staff Appointments

• Second in Command – Supply – 1 SLASC
• Officer Commanding – 160 Composite Squadron at Puttalam                                  
• Officer Commanding – 1 GT Squadron at Panagoda

Instructor Appointments

• Course Officer – Recruit training at Panagoda
• Troop Commander – Kotelawala Defence University.

In recognition of his valuable and unblemished service rendered to the Army/ Country, he has awarded with following medals.

• 75^th Anniversary of Independence Medal
• Sewabhimani Medal
• Service Medal

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Defence Studies) – Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka.

Captain RSD Fernando has qualified in following local and overseas courses:

• Infantry Young Officers’ Course at  ITC/ ATS in 2015.
• SLASC Young Officers’ Course at ASC School at Anuradhapura
