Lieutenant UK Praveen Chathuranga

Lieutenant Praveen Chathuranga, an Executive Officer in the Sri Lanka Navy, began his journey at CWW Kannangara Central College, Mathugama. He joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet on 16^th September 2015, at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) in intake 33. At KDU, he completed his Basic Military Training and earned a Bachelor of Science in Management & Technical Science. He completed advanced military training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee, and was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant on 16^th September 2017. He further honed his expertise by completing the Sub Lieutenant Technical Course in 2022.

He has held the following important appointments in his commitment to serve in the Sri Lanka Navy.

• Troop Commander at KDU.
• Second in Command to P485 Craft.
• Second in Command to P475 Craft.
• Administration Officer at SLNS Kashyapa.
• Administration Officer at SLNS Prathapa

• Bachelor of Science in Management & Technical Sciences Degree – Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka.
• Obtained Certificate  for Bridge Watch Keeping from SL Navy.
• Obtained Ocean Navigation Certificate from SL Navy

• Sub Lieutenant Technical Course at Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee in 2021-2022.
• Irregular Warfare Course at 4^th Fast Attack Flotilla 2022.
