Celebrating and honoring the achievements of 234 sportsmen and women for their exceptional performance in sports during the year 2023, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University ceremonially conducted its ‘Colours Nite 2023’ on 17th December 2024. The event was held at the Main Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies with the gracious premiership of the Chancellor, General SHS Kottegoda (Retired) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc.
The event was a grand evening dedicated to celebrating the talents and determination of both military and civilian undergraduates who work to elevate the university’s reputation and promote sports. It aimed to encourage students to develop their athletic abilities and reach new heights. Additionally, Certificates were awarded to the coaches for their valuable contributions to the promotion of sports at KDU. This event showcased the collective efforts of everyone involved in enhancing sports at the university.

Day-Scholar IDSNB Gunawardhana won the Best Sportsman for the year 2023 and the winners of the other special awards are;
