Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Officer Under Trainees Visit to KDU

The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) is one of the favourite destinations of most local and foreign personnel and dignitaries. ‘Educational Excursions’ of tri-forces have also given great prominence to the KDU as it enables trainees to strengthen ties, companionship and social skills with the KDU, to enhance a profound denotation to their academic learning.

On 02 June 2024, a delegation of 20 Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) of the Direct Entry 01/2023 Intake of Naval and Maritime Academy – Trincomalee paid a visit to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University as one of the destinations of their Annual Environmental and Educational Excursion. LCdr (ASW) RACD Ranasinghe psc, the Divisional Officer of Direct Entry 01/2023 Intake along with the Assistant Divisional Officers and 20 Officer Under Trainees who arrived at KDU were warmly welcomed by LCdr(N)  DRD Ranabahu with a few senior Cadet Government appointment holders at the main entrance.

Next, the NMA OUTs were educated about General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University with the aid of a detailed presentation and a documentary at the auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Further, NMA OUTs got an opportunity to visit the General Sir John Kotelawala Memorial Museum and the historic chateau of General Sir John Kotelawala.

The OUTs got an opportunity to interact with the Officer Cadets of KDU while enjoying refreshments at the Officer Cadets’ Mess, which was one of the most delightful synergistic events of the day. As a token of appreciation and a symbol of goodwill, the mementoes were exchanged between the officials to mark their visit to KDU.
