Officers’ Training Day at KDU for 03rd Quarter of 2023
The Officers’ Training Day of the 3rd quarter of 2023, organized by the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, aiming to refresh and enhance the expertise of the military Officers working in KDU, was successfully held on 04th November 2023 at the main auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
The training day was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Admin) Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC and the supervision of the Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Colonel USB Ratnayake RWP RSP psc.
Pertinent and essential presentations from the guest lecturers were conducted during morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session commenced with a presentation on ‘What You think, You Become’ by Capt Sumedha Mirihana (Retd), Founder and Director of Molon Labe Training and & Consultancy. A Brainstorming session on ‘Capacity Building’ was conducted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Admin) Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC. Thereafter Dr Pathmakumara Jayasinghe, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Department of geography delivered a lecture on the introduction to ‘Climate Change and future trends’ followed by a friendly basketball encounter for all Officers. Concluding the training day, the Diners club held at Officers Mess themed on Impact of Nontraditional threats and responding to them positively – Role of Military, Dr Dayani Panagoda an International Consultant and development practitioner was invited as the Guest Speaker.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Admin), the Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, senior military Officers and all other Officers from the Kotelawala Defence University, participated for the Officers’ Training Day.
