    Lieutenant Waruna Bandara is an executive officer in the Sri Lanka Navy and has completed his initial studies at Dutugemunu Central College – Buttala.  He joined to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 23th September 2016 as an Officer Cadet in Intake 34. After completion of the basic military training at KDU and Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), he was commissioned to the rank of Sub Lieutenant on 23rd September 2018 and posted to the Executive Branch in the Sri Lanka Navy.

    During his tour of duty, he has hold following important appointments:

    • Administrative Officer – SLNS Nandimithtra, SLNS Kanchadewa ,SLNS Gotaimbara
    • 2IC – P 412 Craft

    In recognition of his valuable and unblemished service rendered to the Army/ Country, he has awarded with following medals;

    • Sewabhimani/Sewapadakkama Medal
    • 75th Anniversary of Independence Medal
