    Major Malaka Lakshan is from the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps. He acquired his initial studies from Devananda College, Ambalangoda. On 24 September 2005, he Joined Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). After completion of the basic military training at KDU and Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), he was commissioned to the rank of Lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, a prestigious regiment of Sri Lanka Army and subsequently posted to 3rd Armoured Regiment.

    During his tour of duty, he has hold following important appointments:
