BURN 3 X 3 Basketball Tournament-Rotaract Club of KDU

The Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University proudly presented the third edition of its signature project, the “BURN 3 X 3 Basketball Tournament,” on May 11, 2024. Established in 2016 as a Community Service project, the tournament serves as a fundraiser for various community service projects. This year, the event was introduced with the “International Point Table Registered on FIBA – International Basketball Federation” and aimed to create a larger and better experience for participants and attendees.

The competition, held at the KDU basketball courts, saw the participation of 52 teams, 208 Basketball Players from various universities, schools and outside professional players competing in different categories, including under 16 boys, under 18 boys, university men, university women, and open men.

In the under 16 boys category, the champions were Team B2P, with Team Amal Greens as the runners-up. For under 18 boys, Team Blacks emerged as champions, with Team Donz as the runners-up. In the university men’s category, CINEC Whites clinched the championship title, while NSBM secured the runner-up position. Our very own KDU girls’ team emerged victorious in the university women’s category, with the NSBM girls’ team as the runners-up. The open men’s category saw Lethal Squad team as the champions, with the Marines team securing the second position.

The tournament was conducted in accordance with FIBA rules and regulations, provided a platform for community involvement, increased the visibility of the Rotaract club within the community, and created networking opportunities for Rotaract members and community members.

As a recognition of their outstanding performance, champions in each category were awarded certificates, trophies, and medals, along with a cash prize of 20,000 LKR for the champions and the runners-up also received certificates and a cash prize of 10,000 LKR.

The Project was Co-chaired by Rtr. Nilukshan, Rtr. Sisuri, Rtr. Vinuja, and Rtr. Divyangi, this event was a testament to the commitment and dedication of the Rotaract Club of KDU to community service and fostering positive change.
